Plot Summary

Dekh Bhai Dekh

DEKH BHAI DEKH...laughter behind darkness, a complete entertainer, not comedy but humor and that too black... This is a story of a small town in western UP; four different people with their respective ambitions and their personal problems, but only one solution.... A CRIME.....the only way out...

Babli a sweet, innocent but a very blunt girl, her marriage in a rich family has already turned into a nightmare and she is back home being DIVORCED... She has no option to start a new life. But a robbery involves her childhood friend Shyam into her plan; Shyam also in need of money to bribe the minister for a govt. job. At this juncture one more character joins them, Yadav a struggling politician inneed of money for his party fund to get ticket for election... All the three characters are very innocent and needy but they have no experience of robbery, so they plan to involve a professional thief in the mission and here starts the storm of humor and entertainment when the thief i.e. Charan enters into the frame.

There are some extra ordinary situations in the film where there is thrill and the humor. After a long wait the audience will get such MASALA on screen making this film is a nice blend of art and commercial cinema.

The audience will also get to see some extra ordinary performances by Gracy, Vijay Raaz and Raghuveer Yadav. Besides, this will be the first time that Gracy is playing a gray shaded character. While the climax is totally shocking nothing is revealed and the curiosity level as well as the suspense is left intact right till the end.

Characters Sketch:

Babli: Gracy Singh
Once again Seeta turns Geeta... Funny but true bold, blunt and beautiful... shades of her character keep changing with situations....DIFFICULT to understand... There is no difference in her innocence and aggression ...She has a PLAN... a ROBBERY...All others join in her plan one by one and then their needs, acts and conspiracy turns into a deadly outcome....

Shyam: Siddartha Koirala
Educated but an introvert, ambitious but timid, young educated guy of a lower middle class background demoralized by system; needs money to bribe the minister for a govt. job... Babli, his childhood friend proposes a plan and offers equal money too. Though he is scared because he never dared to drain even a single penny from his father's pocket, HOW he manages to go through the turns and twists of such DEADLY plan.

Yadav Ji: Raghuvir Yadav
A struggling politician, who has spent 20 years of his life working for the party, but has never got a ticket for election...after 20 years of struggle he gets a chance to get an MLA ticket BUT...party demands a huge amount from him for party fund.

He is totally discouraged and demoralized by circumstances and is also frustrated due to family issues... Yadav also has no way but to join Babli and Shyam in their plan... Yadav suggests that they all are new for such a difficult act so they must involve a professional CHOR in their plan... and that's how another character enters the frame...

Charan: Vijay Raaz
Pretends to be stylish, funny, cheap... but he is a clever thief by profession, lonely in his life with nobody to cry for him except CHAMMIYA... his so called love interest. He joins the gang of three stooges and sends the graph of humor rising with his entry...A truly OUTSTANDING performance by VIJAY RAAZ

A Truly Hilarious Black Comedy..

Dekh Bhai Dekh is a story about four individuals, who has their own styles of leading life, personal problems, ambitions and desires. Dekh Bhai Dekh is a twisted tale of greed, cunning and destiny assembled around a rather crude heist. It is a story of small people and their whopping jump to the dark side.

Here's another black and brooding comedy, after the crackling Sankat City. But there's a difference. Dekh Bhai Dekh begins on an interesting premise and even catapults strange new characters before a formula-fed audience.

Dekh Bhai Dekh - Gracy Singh and Siddharth KoiralaThere are some extra ordinary situations in the film where there is thrill and the humor. After a long wait the audience will get such MASALA on screen making this film is a nice blend of art and commercial cinema. While the climax is totally shocking nothing is revealed and the curiosity level as well as the suspense is left intact right till the end.

Sometimes you enter the cinema hall with zero expectations and get pleasantly surprised by a film that may be having a limited budget or no big stars but has its heart in its place. Dekh Bhai Dekh is one such film. Rahat Kazmi’s debut directorial attempt is impressive. He has wonderfully interwoven through happy and sad flashbacks, the lives and troubles of Babli, Shyam and Yadav.

Dekh Bhai Dekh - Siddharth Koiralaa, Vijay Raaz and Yadav in a movie sceneThe constant banter of four incompetent thieves, their attempts at double-crossing each other and the final stroke of devious providence has turned out very well. Though the pacing of the film is slow the dialogues keep you in splits and forever engaged. The ending is truly unexpected.

The film however scores in reinventing Gracy Singh from a haus frau to a homicidal babe who doesn't bat an eyelid before saying `crime' and `murder'. Having been thrown out of her house on false charges by her husband and in-laws, Gracy decides to run away from the claustophobic small town after stealing a priceless statue from the local temple. She enlists a whole gang to support her. These include the disgruntled politician (Raghubir Yadav), the unemployed, yet ambitious kabadi wallah's son (Siddharth Koirala) and the small time crook (Vijay Raaz). The foursome do manage to steal the idol, but before they can escape, they must take refuge in a rambling haveli which has just one inmate: a doddering old woman who leaves her jewels around, while weeping for her wayward son.

Dekh Bhai Dekh - Gracy SinghVijay Raaz though often over the top with some risqué dialogues, gets his comic timing right and is the most fun to watch. However, one gets the feeling that an actor of Raghuveer Yadav’s caliber has been left underutilised. Siddharth Koirala carries just a single expression on his face and needs a crash course in dialogue delivery. Gracy has finally got a meaty role after a long and she grabs the opportunity with both her hands. Virendra Saxena and Asrani lend able support.

It is recommended for those who don’t really fancy big stars in their movies and are craving for a truly ‘hatke’ film. Go check this black comedy out; you won’t rue your trip to the cinema hall.
